Who We Are

We are Karen and Kevin Miller and we have lived in Lunenburg, Massachusetts, forty miles west of Boston, for 25 years. We have both been in the banking business for over forty years, and have shared our passion for Borzoi since 1981, showing since 1996, breeding our first litter in 2001. I (Karen) discovered

Borzoi as a child in the then-current printing of the AKC’s “Complete Dog Book”, falling in love with Vigow of Romanoff. I knew then that the Borzoi was the perfect breed for me, and confirmed that notion when I saw my first Borzoi in person while on vacation with my family in the summer of 1968. It was a stunning large, white male with a well-dressed man in a dark suit. The image is forever emblazoned on my mind. I know now that the dog I saw was one of Karen Staudt-Cartabona’s breedings. Fortunately for me, Kevin also fell in love with the breed after being introduced to them by me, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Vigow of Romanoff, the Borzoi I fell in love with as a child.

Our first Borzoi came to us via Lena Tamboer, who put us in touch with David Harmon. Breaking our hearts however, our beautiful bitch, Daphne, died suddenly at age three. Our second two Borzoi came from Mary Haigh of Camiran Borzoi. We showed our girl, Cricket, a few times in the mid-80’s. When Cricket passed away at age nine, we called Karen Staudt-Cartabona and still thank our lucky stars that she answered the phone that day and graciously invited us to visit. Little did we know that visit would change our lives. We came home with our “Lizzie”, then “Kazimir”, “Beau”, “Windy”, and “Laika”. And we were introduced to Lynne Bennett of Avalyn Borzoi in Michigan, who co-bred Lizzie, Beau, Windy, and Breeze, and who has become one of our closest friends.

Our daughter, Dana, with Daphne in 1981.

We began showing on Karen’s recommendation and finished each dog with some nice wins, including specialty wins. Beau became the #4 Borzoi, breed and all breed, and was a top ten for years, handled by us.

We continue to show and breed today, finally building our dream facility to raise and care for the dogs in 2010.
